Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, family-centered critical care to pediatric patients in the PICU
• Monitor and assess complex clinical conditions and promptly escalate changes in status
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Document care accurately and efficiently using Epic to ensure continuity and safety
• Teach and support families through critical care situations with compassion and clear communication
• Participate in unit competency validation and specialty testing to maintain high standards of care

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required for Iowa or compact RN license
• BLS and PALS certification required
• Prior PICU or pediatric critical care experience preferred
• Epic electronic health record experience preferred
• Willingness to complete Trinity specialty competency testing, skills checklist, fit test, drug screen, and required vaccinations
• Current basic immunizations and health screenings as listed by employer (Tdap, MMR, Hep B, Varicella, influenza, COVID-19, TB screening or IGRA)

Knowledge & Skills

• Pediatric intensive care principles and bedside assessment
• Familiarity with Epic for documentation and order management
• Strong clinical judgment and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced PICU
• Clear, compassionate communication with families and interdisciplinary teams
• Ability to maintain competencies through specialty skill checklists and testing
