Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert perioperative nursing care for cardiovascular surgery patients
• Prepare and maintain a sterile operating room environment for CVOR cases
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the OR team to ensure safe, efficient procedures
• Monitor patient hemodynamics and respond promptly to changes during surgery
• Assist with instrument and equipment setup, including specialized cardiovascular devices
• Document perioperative care and communicate handoffs clearly in the medical record
• Support patient and family education related to surgical procedures and recovery

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Experience and clinical competency in CVOR or cardiovascular surgery (job notes indicate 1 year of experience)
• Strong perioperative nursing skills and familiarity with sterile technique
• Ability to function effectively in high-acuity surgical settings and work collaboratively on the OR team
• Current BLS/ACLS certifications preferred or required by facility (verify with hiring team)

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative cardiovascular nursing principles and best practices
• Familiarity with cardiac surgery instrumentation and device handling
• Patient monitoring, hemodynamic assessment, and intraoperative vigilance
• Sterile technique, infection prevention, and OR safety protocols
• Clear communication and teamwork in fast-paced surgical environments
• Accurate clinical documentation and electronic health record usage
