Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity nursing care for adult CVICU patients recovering from cardiac surgery and advanced cardiac procedures
• Manage ventilators and provide expert respiratory care for intubated patients
• Perform hemodynamic monitoring, interpret invasive lines, and respond to changes in patient status
• Safely manage arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes, and Swan-Ganz catheters
• Administer and titrate vasoactive drips and other critical medications per protocol
• Collaborate closely with physicians, perfusionists, and the interdisciplinary team to create and execute individualized care plans
• Document accurately and efficiently in the Meditech EMR to ensure seamless continuity of care
• Support unit readiness by assisting with procedures such as CRRT, Impella management, and postoperative CABG recovery

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the US (Texas RN or compact license preferred)
• Minimum 2 years of critical care nursing experience (adult ICU, CVICU, Neuro ICU or similar) as required by unit
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (CCRN preferred)
• Proven experience with ventilator management, arterial and central line care, and chest tube management
• Comfortable with advanced monitoring equipment (Swan-Ganz, hemodynamic monitors) and CRRT familiarity is a plus
• Ability to work night shifts and contribute to a collaborative, team-centered environment

Education

• Active RN license (required)
• BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Advanced ventilator management and respiratory support

• Art line, central line, and chest tube management
• Experience with CRRT and familiarity with Impella devices
• Swan-Ganz catheter monitoring and interpretation
• Proficient documentation in Meditech EMR
• Strong teamwork, critical thinking, and bedside assessment skills
• Comfort with post-op CABG recovery and other CVICU procedures
