Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide quality respiratory care and therapies to patients in accordance with protocols
• Assess and monitor patients’ respiratory status and response to treatment
• Administer prescribed respiratory treatments and manage ventilator support when needed
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care
• Document assessments, treatments, and patient responses accurately in the chart
• Participate in orientation, training, and ongoing competency development
• Maintain and troubleshoot respiratory equipment to ensure safe operation
• Educate patients and families about respiratory care plans and home care when appropriate

Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Missouri (required)
• CRT or RRT credential preferred or equivalent certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; ACLS and PALS a plus
• Prior clinical respiratory therapy experience preferred (per-diem or acute care experience helpful)
• Current immunizations and ability to pass background and health screening
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team

Education

• Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or graduation from an accredited respiratory therapy program (required)
• Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Proven skills in airway management, oxygen therapy, and aerosolized medication delivery
• Comfortable with ventilator management and respiratory monitoring
• Ability to perform and interpret basic pulmonary function and ABG analysis
• Familiarity with electronic health record documentation
• Infection prevention practices and safe patient handling
• Adaptability to variable schedules and fast-paced clinical environments
