Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert respiratory care for newborns, including support for routine and high-risk deliveries
• Lead newborn resuscitation efforts using NRP protocols and collaborate with the delivery team
• Operate, monitor and troubleshoot neonatal respiratory equipment safely and effectively
• Assess respiratory status, document interventions, and adjust care plans in partnership with NICU/OB teams
• Maintain required competencies by completing Trinity specialty testing and skills checklists
• Support quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a culture of safety in the delivery suite
• Communicate clearly with families and the interdisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care

Qualifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
• Active state respiratory care license or ability to obtain state licensure (license verification required)
• Required certifications: BLS, NRP, ACLS, PALS
• Demonstrated newborn delivery and high-risk delivery experience (must have hands-on delivery experience)
• Successful completion of employer-required competency testing (Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist)
• Ability to pass pre-employment requirements: fit test, 10-panel drug screen, physical/health statement, TB screening (2-step PPD or IGRA), and required immunizations

Education

• Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program (Associate degree or higher preferred)
• RRT credential required

Knowledge & Skills

• Neonatal respiratory care and newborn resuscitation (NRP)
• High-risk delivery support and peridelivery respiratory interventions
• Mechanical ventilation basics and neonatal ventilator management
• Cardiopulmonary assessment and monitoring in newborns
• Strong interdisciplinary communication and documentation skills
• Familiarity with competency testing and skills checklists
• Infection control practices and vaccine compliance
