Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: Day shift, 5-hour pre-op blocks (exact start/end times and specific days to be confirmed; orientation included)

Candidate Pay Rate: $49 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate pre-operative nursing care for pediatric patients
Perform thorough pre-op assessments and document findings accurately
Prepare patients and families through clear, age-appropriate education
Collaborate closely with surgical teams and perioperative staff
Administer medications and assist with IV starts as appropriate
Maintain strict infection control and patient safety standards
Participate fully in orientation and team training to ensure high-quality care

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (WA licensure preferred or required)
Experience in pediatric nursing with exposure to pre-operative care
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred
Strong clinical assessment, communication, and documentation skills
Ability to work effectively with children and their families in a surgical setting

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of pediatric pre-operative assessment and care
Familiarity with perioperative processes and safety protocols
Proficiency with medication administration and IV therapy
Comfortable educating families and providing emotional support
Good electronic health record documentation skills
Team-oriented mindset and effective interdisciplinary communication
