Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate pre-operative nursing care to pediatric patients, ensuring safety and comfort
Perform thorough pre-op assessments, obtain vital signs, and document findings accurately
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and perioperative staff to prepare patients for procedures
Educate families and caregivers on pre-op instructions and what to expect post-procedure
Verify medications, allergies, and consent to support safe surgical care
Participate in orientation and ongoing training to maintain high standards of pediatric pre-op practice

Qualifications

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (Ohio or compact-state eligibility preferred)
Clinical experience in pre-operative care or pediatrics is preferred
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain
Strong communication skills with children and families and a team-oriented mindset
Ability to follow perioperative protocols and safety procedures

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent nursing education

Knowledge & Skills

Pediatric patient assessment and age-appropriate communication
Pre-operative nursing workflows and safety checks
Accurate clinical documentation and medication verification
Collaboration with multi-disciplinary surgical teams
Compassionate family education and support
