Registered Nurse - Pre-op (Pediatrics)

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate pre-operative nursing care to pediatric patients
- Perform focused pre-op assessments and document findings clearly in the chart
- Educate patients and families about the pre-op process and what to expect
- Collaborate with surgical teams, anesthesia, and perioperative staff to ensure readiness for surgery
- Maintain pediatric-focused infection prevention and sterile technique standards
- Participate in orientation and ongoing unit training to maintain competency
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington (or compact RN able to practice in WA)
- Pediatric nursing experience preferred, especially in pre-operative settings
- Current BLS; PALS preferred or willing to obtain
- Comfortable performing pediatric assessments and family education
- Willingness to complete facility orientation
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ASN/BSN) with active RN licensure
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong pediatric assessment and communication skills
- Familiarity with pre-operative protocols and surgical workflow
- Ability to educate and calm families prior to procedures
- Proficient documentation and basic EMR navigation
- Team-oriented mindset and ability to collaborate across disciplines
