Roles & Responsibilities

Perform thorough pediatric pre-operative assessments to ensure patients are ready for surgery
Communicate clearly with families to explain pre-op instructions and ease anxieties
Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and perioperative staff to coordinate care
Monitor and document vital signs and pre-op status in the medical record
Administer pre-op medications and assist with IV starts as per protocol
Ensure accurate handoffs and clear documentation to maintain safety and continuity of care
Promote a child- and family-centered care environment with compassion and professionalism

Qualifications

Current Registered Nurse license (Ohio license preferred if not already licensed)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred or willing to obtain
Experience in pediatric nursing or perioperative/pre-op settings is highly valued
Strong communication skills for family education and team collaboration
Ability to complete orientation and required facility onboarding

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Skilled in pediatric assessment and age-appropriate communication
Proficient with IV starts, medication administration, and vital sign monitoring
Familiarity with perioperative workflows and pre-op checklists
Competent in electronic medical record documentation and accurate charting
Team-oriented mindset with strong organizational and prioritization skills
