Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: 5-hour pre-op shifts (exact days and start/end times to be confirmed; orientation required)

Candidate Pay Rate: $63 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, family-centered pre-operative nursing care for pediatric patients
Perform focused assessments and accurately document patient status before procedures
Prepare patients and equipment for surgery, ensuring safety and comfort
Communicate clearly with families and the surgical team to coordinate care
Administer age-appropriate interventions and monitor patients during the pre-op period
Participate in orientation and training to maintain high standards of care

Qualifications

Active RN license in Massachusetts (required)
Experience or interest in pediatric nursing and pre-operative care
Current BLS certification; PALS preferred or encouraged
Comfortable working in a perioperative/pre-op setting with attention to detail
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
Ability to pass facility background checks and meet credentialing requirements

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Understanding of pre-operative protocols and pediatric assessment
Familiarity with age-appropriate distraction and comfort techniques
Basic medication administration and documentation skills
Ability to use electronic medical records and charting systems
Teamwork, situational awareness, and strong patient advocacy
