Roles & Responsibilities

Provide expert, compassionate nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU
Assess patient condition continually and implement appropriate interventions
Operate and monitor advanced life support equipment and ventilators
Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, respiratory therapists, and social work
Educate and support families during high-stress situations with clear, empathetic communication
Document assessments, interventions, and patient progress accurately in the medical record
Participate in orientation and precepting to mentor new team members

Qualifications

Current, active RN license in California (required)
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (required or must obtain upon hire)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Previous PICU or pediatric critical care experience preferred
Strong clinical assessment skills and comfort with high-acuity pediatric patients
Ability to pass facility background and health screenings

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Pediatric critical care principles and bedside management
Ventilator management and advanced airway support
Hemodynamic monitoring and vasoactive medication administration
Pediatric medication dosing and IV/central line management
Family-centered care and effective communication under stress
Electronic health record (EHR) documentation proficiency
