Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high quality, compassionate nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU
• Assess, monitor, and document patient status using clinical judgment and evidence based practice
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, respiratory therapists, and pharmacists to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Administer medications, manage infusions, and operate advanced monitoring and ventilator equipment safely
• Lead family-centered communication, educate caregivers, and support families during critical moments
• Participate in unit quality improvement initiatives and maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in California or ability to obtain prior to start
• Pediatric ICU experience preferred; new grads with strong pediatric background may be considered
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) strongly preferred
• Strong clinical assessment skills, critical thinking, and the ability to prioritize in a fast paced environment
• Willingness to complete required orientation and unit competency training

Education

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
• BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of pediatric critical care principles and age specific interventions
• Experience with ventilator management and advanced hemodynamic monitoring
• Proficient in medication administration, IV infusions, and titratable drips
• Excellent communication skills for patient care handoffs and family updates
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and mentor others
