Roles & Responsibilities

Assess and monitor hemodynamically stable and predictably unstable patients, using skilled clinical judgment to detect changes in condition
Provide comprehensive patient care from admission through discharge, including physical, emotional and cultural support
Administer medications and manage complex therapies including ventilator support (noninvasive and invasive), central/arterial lines, chest tubes, NG tubes, and continuous bladder irrigation
Interpret cardiac telemetry and EKGs and respond promptly to changes in cardiac rhythm
Operate and troubleshoot advanced medical equipment and multiple IV pumps to ensure safe, effective care
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and communicate with providers to coordinate patient-centered care plans
Act as a clinical leader: precept new staff, mentor colleagues, and provide direction to RN, LPN, CNA and support staff
Participate in discharge planning and patient education to promote smooth transitions of care

Qualifications

Active Montana RN licensure required
Degree from a Nursing Program
Current BLS, ACLS and PALS required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire
Recent experience in Medical/Surgical, Progressive Care or Critical Care nursing required
EPNC and TNCC preferred
Comfortable caring for pediatric patients and a variety of post-operative and medical diagnoses

Education

Degree from a Nursing Program

Knowledge & Skills

Patient assessment and advanced nursing procedures
Telemetry monitoring and EKG interpretation
Experience with ventilator support (noninvasive/invasive)
Competence with central lines, arterial lines, chest tubes and nasogastric tubes
Proficient with multiple IV pumps and advanced medical equipment operation
Strong interdisciplinary collaboration, clinical leadership and precepting skills
Medication administration and post-operative care
