Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate post-anesthesia care to pediatric patients, monitoring recovery and responding to clinical changes
• Assess and document patient status, vital signs, pain levels, and recovery milestones clearly and promptly
• Administer medications and treatments safely, following physician orders and facility protocols
• Collaborate with anesthesia, surgical teams, and pediatric specialists to ensure seamless transitions of care
• Educate families and caregivers on post-operative care and discharge instructions with empathy and clarity
• Participate in orientation and continuous learning to maintain best practices in pediatric PACU care

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri or compact RN licensure
• Experience in PACU and/or pediatric nursing preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) highly preferred
• Comfortable with pediatric assessment, airway management basics, and post-anesthesia monitoring
• Ability to complete facility-required onboarding, background check, and health screenings

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN/ASN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong pediatric assessment and monitoring skills
• Proficiency in post-anesthesia recovery protocols and pain management
• Excellent communication with families, surgeons, and anesthesiologists
• Accurate electronic documentation and charting
• Teamwork, critical thinking, and the ability to act calmly in urgent situations
