Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate postoperative nursing care for pediatric patients in the PACU
Assess and monitor patient status, including vital signs and recovery from anesthesia
Administer medications and manage IVs safely and accurately
Communicate clear, timely updates to surgical teams and patient families
Document care and recovery progress thoroughly in the patient chart
Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure smooth patient handoffs and continuity of care

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio (required)
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) preferred
Previous PACU or pediatric postoperative nursing experience preferred
Comfortable working with pediatric patients and their families
Strong clinical assessment, triage, and critical thinking skills

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of pediatric post-anesthesia care and recovery protocols
Skill in IV therapy, medication administration, and pain management
Proficient documentation and electronic health record (EHR) skills
Excellent communication, teamwork, and family-centered care approach
Ability to respond calmly and effectively in urgent situations
