Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide direct, age-appropriate nursing care for obstetrics patients following organizational policies and protocols
• Perform daily patient rounds to ensure quality care and promptly address any unmet needs
• Develop individualized plans of care based on thorough assessments of physical, psychological, social and developmental needs
• Assess, intervene, and reassess patient pain and responses; escalate and document according to procedure
• Identify early warning signs of deterioration and initiate appropriate emergency measures or clinician notification
• Coordinate care and communicate observations clearly with the interdisciplinary team
• Begin discharge planning early and provide patient/family education to support safe transitions home
• Delegate nursing interventions appropriately and supervise care to ensure safety and competence

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse licensed by the North Dakota Board of Nursing or valid Compact State Agreement (required prior to start)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) — American Heart Association (required prior to start)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) — AHA (required prior to start)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) — AAP/RQI Partners (required prior to start)
• STABLE certification (required prior to start)
• Clinical judgment and the ability to assess and respond to changing patient conditions
• Strong communication skills for patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient care and nursing care in an obstetrics setting
• Discharge planning and patient education best practices
• Assessment, intervention and documentation aligned with standard operating procedures
• Emergency response skills for deteriorating patients and neonatal needs
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
