Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM (day) and 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM (night); schedule varies with no set schedule; weekends and holidays required (must work 4 weekend shifts per schedule — weekends are Friday/Saturday for night shift and Saturday/Sunday for day shift); orientation requires 2-3 days of day shifts and a mandatory in-person session with GE team for the first group

Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform remote cardiac surveillance from a centralized monitoring unit using GE and Ascom systems
• Recognize, record and report potentially dangerous rhythm changes and arrhythmias quickly and accurately
• Follow established protocols to notify local RN staff and escalate emergent situations appropriately
• Document findings and actions in the Cerner charting system with attention to detail
• Collaborate with Charge Nurse, House Supervisor and Director to support patient outcomes and department metrics
• Maintain a professional work environment—adhere to strict no-cell-phone policy and use provided work phone for communications
• Participate in cross-training opportunities to expand into Virtual Patient Companion or Clinical Connection Specialist roles

Qualifications

• BLS Certification (required)
• Graduation from an accredited program that includes EKG interpretation
• Minimum 2 years of recent related work experience (3 years preferred)
• Ability to accurately interpret cardiac rhythms and pass the Advanced Dysrhythmia exam prior to start (lethal rhythms are pass/fail with one attempt)
• Available for required orientation (2-3 day day-shift period) and ability to work weekends and holidays
• For night-shift roles, must not hold another job that conflicts with night assignments

Education

• Graduate of an accredited program that includes EKG interpretation (BSN not required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong EKG interpretation skills and rhythm recognition
• Familiarity with Cerner charting and centralized monitoring workflows
• Experience with GE and Ascom monitoring equipment preferred
• Excellent communication and escalation skills when coordinating with bedside RN teams
• Ability to multitask and monitor up to large patient volumes (up to ~45–60 patients per technician)
• High attention to detail, strong situational awareness, and commitment to patient safety
