Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform focused neurological assessments and timely neuro checks to detect changes early
• Monitor telemetry and other vital data closely, responding rapidly to patient needs
• Administer medications and complex therapies safely and accurately
• Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, therapists, and case management
• Provide clear, compassionate patient and family education tailored to neuro diagnoses
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the electronic health record promptly
• Prioritize patient safety, escalate concerns appropriately, and participate in unit quality initiatives

Qualifications

• Current, active RN licensure in Louisiana (or compact RN licensure if applicable)
• BLS required; ACLS preferred or obtainable upon hire
• Clinical experience caring for neuro or stepdown patients preferred
• Strong assessment, critical-thinking, and prioritization skills
• Ability to work 12+ hour clinical shifts and collaborate well in a fast-paced unit

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Neuro assessment and recognition of neurologic change
• Telemetry/monitoring and interpretation of cardiac rhythms
• Intravenous medication administration and infusion pump experience
• Proficient documentation in EHR systems
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Patient education and family-centered care delivery
• Time management and ability to prioritize multiple patients
• Basic quality improvement and safety awareness
