Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care for Neuro ICU patients with critical neurological needs
• Assess patient condition continuously and intervene quickly when changes occur
• Administer medications, monitor infusions, and manage advanced hemodynamic supports as ordered
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members — physicians, therapists, and support staff — to create and execute effective care plans
• Perform accurate documentation and handoffs to ensure continuity and safety of care
• Educate patients and families about condition, care plans, and discharge needs with empathy and clarity
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and safety initiatives to elevate patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Current RN license (Louisiana preferred; multistate compact may be considered)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) recommended or required depending on facility policy
• Experience in Neuro ICU or critical care nursing preferred (unit-specific orientation provided)
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a fast-paced interdisciplinary team

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of critical care nursing practices and neuro-specific assessments
• Familiarity with ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, and titratable drips
• Proficient in electronic medical record documentation and medication administration safety
• Skilled at prioritizing tasks in high-acuity situations with professionalism and calm
• Good bedside manner and patient/family education abilities
