Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care to pediatric med/surg patients
• Assess patients regularly, develop care plans, implement interventions, and evaluate outcomes
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, and discharge planning
• Document clinical assessments and care interventions clearly in the medical record
• Participate actively in unit orientation and ongoing training to maintain high standards of care

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Missouri RN or compact RN eligible)
• Current BLS certification required; PALS or pediatric certifications preferred
• Experience or clinical exposure in Med/Surg and Pediatrics (clinical rotations count!)
• Strong communication, teamwork, and patient-family education skills
• Ability to complete required health screenings and background checks as part of onboarding

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Knowledge & Skills

• Med/Surg nursing principles and pediatric care considerations
• Clinical assessment, vital sign interpretation, and patient monitoring
• Safe medication administration and IV competency
• Electronic medical record documentation
• Infection prevention and control practices
• Effective patient and family education techniques
• Critical thinking, prioritization, and time management in a busy unit
