Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care for med/surg patients and prioritize patient safety
• Assess patient status, monitor vital signs and report significant changes to the care team
• Administer medications and treatments safely and document accurately in the medical record
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists and support staff to create and implement patient care plans
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and discharge plans to support recovery
• Assist in procedures and coordinate safe patient transfers and handoffs to maintain continuity of care
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a positive, patient-centered environment

Qualifications

• Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or compact RN license if applicable
• Clinical experience or training in Medical-Surgical nursing
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; advanced certifications encouraged
• Strong clinical judgment, effective communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced team
• Ability to pass facility background checks and meet health screening requirements

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of medical-surgical nursing principles and patient assessment
• Proficiency in medication administration, IV therapy and wound care basics
• Familiarity with electronic medical record documentation and care coordination
• Strong prioritization, time management and multidisciplinary collaboration skills
• Comfort managing multiple patients while maintaining attention to detail and safety
