Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care to adults on the Medical-Surgical floor
• Perform thorough assessments and continuously monitor patient condition
• Administer medications, IV therapies and treatments safely and according to policy
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
• Document care accurately and timely in the electronic health record
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and discharge plans
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Louisiana or eligible for Louisiana licensure
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS preferred or available
• Previous Medical-Surgical nursing experience preferred
• Strong clinical assessment and IV/medication administration skills
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced setting
• Ability to pass facility onboarding and any required background checks

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of medical-surgical nursing principles and best practices
• Skilled in patient assessment, wound care, and post-op monitoring
• Familiarity with electronic health records and accurate clinical documentation
• Ability to prioritize, multitask and respond in dynamic situations
• Strong teamwork, critical thinking and patient advocacy skills
• Comfortable working in a culturally diverse, urban hospital environment
