Roles & Responsibilities

• Administer prescribed medications and treatments safely and in line with facility policy
• Assist physicians by preparing equipment and aiding during resident exams and treatments
• Observe residents closely, record significant conditions and promptly notify supervisors, physicians and families
• Take and document vital signs (temperature, pulse, blood pressure) to monitor resident status
• Assign duties and coordinate nursing services to ensure resident care needs are met
• Maintain accurate documentation for admissions, discharges, transfers and incident reports
• Maintain unit narcotics records and ensure controlled substance protocols are followed
• Participate in care planning: complete nursing assessments and resident care plans accurately and on time
• Participate in orientation, training and evaluation of nursing personnel and contribute to a culture of learning
• Complete special projects and audits as directed to support quality and regulatory compliance

Qualifications

• Active Michigan RN license required (Nursys verification expected)
• BLS (AHA) current and active
• Minimum 2+ years experience in LTC, SNF or Med Surg settings
• At least one successful travel RN assignment completed — please note on work history
• Able to work night shifts, take charge when needed, and be flexible with scheduling
• Willingness to comply with facility vaccination policies (COVID vaccine strongly preferred; if declining, mask required)
• Must be comfortable working in a facility with animals on site (dog, cat and aviary birds)
• RTO (return to office/time off) cannot exceed 5 days — ability to meet scheduling expectations

Knowledge & Skills

• Medication administration and safe narcotics/controlled substance management
• Nursing assessments and care planning with strong documentation skills
• Taking and interpreting vital signs and recognizing deviations from baseline
• Experience supervising staff, assigning duties and coordinating unit nursing services
• Familiarity with admissions/discharges/transfers and incident reporting processes
• Ability to participate in audits, special projects and quality improvement activities
• Comfort with facility orientation/training and conducting peer evaluations
• Infection prevention practices and resident rights/confidentiality awareness
