Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert labor and delivery nursing care for high-risk antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients
• Perform and interpret external fetal monitoring (EFM) and recognize/treat abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Circulate for cesarean sections and assist with vaginal and high-risk deliveries
• Administer critical medications such as magnesium sulfate, insulin drips, and antihypertensives safely and confidently
• Participate in perioperative support and surgical procedures including cerclage and D&C as required
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (IV teams, respiratory, pharmacy, social services, etc.) to coordinate excellent patient care
• Chart accurately and efficiently in Epic to maintain continuity of care
• Provide patient and family education, emotional support, and advocacy throughout the birthing experience
• Maintain unit safety standards and contribute to a positive, high-quality work environment on a busy, high-acuity unit

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license (state authorization to work required)
• Minimum 2 years labor & delivery experience — this is a hard stop, no exceptions
• Travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate (AWHONN Advanced preferred)
• NCC EFM certification acceptable in lieu of AWHONN Intermediate
• Must be able to circulate for C-sections and assist in operative deliveries
• Pending licenses are not accepted; candidates must have clear licensure at time of submittal

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in External Fetal Monitoring (EFM) and fetal heart rate interpretation
• Strong knowledge of high-risk antepartum conditions (pre-eclampsia/eclampsia, multiples, diabetes, IUFD, fetal anomalies)
• Proficient in medication administration for obstetric emergencies (magnesium sulfate therapy, insulin drips, antihypertensives)
• Experience assisting in cesarean sections, vaginal deliveries, cerclage, and D&C procedures
• Comfortable working in large, high-acuity hospital settings and fast-paced teams
• Experience charting in Epic and coordinating care with interdisciplinary support services
• Ability to maintain 1:1 or 1:2 patient ratios and provide focused, safety-minded care
