Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert labor and delivery care, monitoring patients through labor and delivery with compassion and clinical skill
• Confidently circulate and recover C-sections in the unit ORs, working closely with anesthesia and OB hospitalists
• Perform and interpret electronic fetal monitoring (EFM/Fetal Link) and respond to changes in fetal status
• Titrate medications per protocol — manage Pitocin and Magnesium Sulfate safely and accurately
• Document thoroughly using Cerner (computer charting required) to ensure continuity of care
• Participate in simulation labs and pass the required dysrhythmia exam as part of onboarding
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (RT, IV team, pharmacy, OB hospitalist) to deliver seamless, high-quality care
• Adhere to AWHONN guidelines and safe nurse-to-patient ratios while advocating for patient safety

Qualifications

• Active RN license (able to practice in Arizona)
• Minimum ~4 years of relevant nursing experience (Labor & Delivery preferred)
• Must have hands-on experience with C-sections (circulating and recovering)
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• Comfortable and experienced with computer charting, preferably Cerner
• Willingness to complete a dysrhythmia exam (pass/fail requirement) and day 1 simulation lab
• Ability to titrate Pitocin and Magnesium Sulfate per unit protocols
• Comfort working in a Level II perinatal environment and Level 1 Trauma Center

Education

• Nursing diploma, ADN or BSN accepted (BSN not required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Labor and Delivery clinical management and maternal/newborn assessment
• C-section circulation and recovery procedures
• Electronic Medical Record proficiency (Cerner)
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring (Fetal Link) interpretation
• IV therapy and infusion titration skills
• Familiarity with AWHONN staffing guidelines and safe patient ratios
• Strong communication, triage, and team collaboration skills in high-acuity settings
• Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams including anesthesia, RT, and IV teams
