Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity cardiac critical care for CVICU patients, managing complex hemodynamics and titrating vasopressors
• Assess and manage ventilator settings and participate in rapid sequence intubations as needed
• Care for patients with arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes and advanced devices such as IABP and CRRT
• Document thoroughly and accurately in EPIC to maintain continuity of care and clinical quality
• Collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Monitor and respond to changes in patient status, escalating concerns and initiating advanced interventions
• Support unit flow by floating to PCU or providing sitter coverage when required
• Maintain unit standards for patient ratios and safe practice in a 24-bed CVICU environment

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (state license required for assignment)
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience (will consider 1 year of strong CVICU experience)
• Cardiac nursing experience — familiarity with post-op cardiac patients and mechanical circulatory support
• Current ACLS certification (required)
• Competency with 12-hour night shifts and experience working night schedules
• Proficiency with EPIC documentation and critical care workflows

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing and Cardiac ICU (CVICU) expertise
• EPIC documentation proficiency
• Ventilator management and endotracheal intubation experience
• Vasopressor titration and arterial/central line management
• Chest tube management and experience with bronchoscopy
• Familiarity with CRRT and IABP
• Strong teamwork, communication and adaptability for floating responsibilities
• Experience working night shift and managing 1:2 patient ratios (1:3 for PCU boarders)
