Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive polysomnographic studies (PSGs) to help diagnose sleep disorders
• Conduct Multiple Sleep Latency Tests (MSLT) and Maintenance of Wakefulness Tests (MWT) as ordered
• Monitor patients throughout testing, ensuring safety, comfort, and high-quality data collection
• Accurately document findings and maintain electronic health record entries in a timely manner
• Collaborate with physicians and the respiratory therapy team to support patient care plans
• Use clinical judgment and quick reaction skills to respond to unexpected patient needs
• Assist patients with ambulation and transfers using safe body mechanics when needed
• Maintain consistent, punctual attendance and contribute positively to the lab team

Qualifications

• Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) — required
• At least 2 years’ experience as a sleep technician in a hospital sleep lab — required
• At least 1 year experience as a respiratory therapist in an acute hospital setting working with RPSGT or SDS — required
• ARRT certification — required
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification — required
• Comfort with electronic documentation / EHR systems and basic computer literacy
• Ability to communicate clearly in English, both written and verbal
• Physical ability to perform duties (standing, bending, lifting up to the role’s requirements, fine motor skills, hearing/visual acuity)

Education

• Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in polysomnography (PSG), MSLT and MWT testing protocols
• Patient monitoring and bedside care in a sleep lab environment
• Proficient with electronic documentation systems and EHR workflows
• Strong clinical observation, reporting, and documentation skills
• Good interpersonal and communication skills for patient interactions and teamwork
• Familiarity with SDS and safety/precaution protocols in patient care
