Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming)
• Support safe mobility and transfers while promoting independence
• Take and record vital signs and report any changes to nursing staff
• Document care accurately and communicate clearly with the care team
• Create a calm, respectful environment for residents with dementia or cognitive impairment
• Help with meal assistance and observe dietary needs and preferences
• Follow infection control protocols and maintain a safe care setting

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification (Class: GNA) — required
• Current BLS/CPR certification preferred or able to obtain
• Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and required health screenings
• Comfort working with older adults and people with complex care needs
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative attitude
• Previous long-term care or geriatric experience preferred but not always required

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of an approved GNA program or equivalent certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in assisting with ADLs and resident mobility
• Knowledge of basic infection control and safety procedures
• Comfortable taking and documenting vital signs accurately
• Strong observational skills to notice changes in resident condition
• Respectful, patient-centered communication with residents and families
• Teamwork mindset and willingness to support nursing staff
