Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate direct care and assist patients with activities of daily living
• Support mental health treatment plans by offering calm, respectful patient interaction
• Monitor and document vital signs, behaviors, and progress in patient charts
• Collaborate with nursing and mental health teams to ensure continuity of care
• Assist with safe transfers, ambulation, and mobility support as needed
• Maintain a safe, clean environment and follow infection control protocols
• Participate in orientation and unit-specific training to meet facility needs

Qualifications

• Current CNA certification in the state of California (required)
• Medical Assistant credential a plus (MA), or dual certification welcome
• Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification (required or obtained upon hire)
• Experience or interest in working with mental health populations preferred
• Ability to pass background check, TB testing, and required immunizations
• Strong communication skills, reliability, and a team-oriented attitude

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• State CNA certification; Medical Assistant certification preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient-centered care with experience in mental health settings
• Clinical observation and accurate documentation skills
• Calm de-escalation techniques and therapeutic communication
• Basic clinical skills: vital signs, ADL assistance, safe patient handling
• Familiarity with infection prevention and safety protocols
• Ability to follow care plans and take direction from licensed staff
