Roles & Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients in an acute care hospital setting and determine treatment needs
• Develop individualized care plans that target functional recovery and safe discharge
• Deliver therapeutic procedures and rehabilitation techniques across orthopedics, neurology and cardiopulmonary cases
• Supervise and coordinate therapeutic care with PTAs, OTs, speech therapists and rehab techs
• Use patient lifting equipment safely (SARA+, Stedy, Maximove) and instruct staff/families on mobility strategies
• Document assessments, progress and care plans accurately in Cerner PowerChart
• Communicate evaluation results and progress with patients, families and interdisciplinary staff to ensure continuity of care

Qualifications

• Current North Carolina license to practice Physical Therapy (required)
• Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy (BSPT or equivalent)
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical experience (acute care experience preferred)
• Comfortable with orthopedics, neurology and cardiopulmonary patient populations
• Experience using patient lifting equipment and hospital documentation systems

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy (BSPT) or equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient evaluation and treatment planning in acute care
• Therapeutic procedures for rehabilitation across multiple specialties
• Care plan development and progress measurement
• Proficient documentation in Cerner PowerChart
• Safe use of patient handling and lifting equipment
• Strong interdisciplinary communication and patient education skills
