Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, family-centered critical care to pediatric cardiac patients in the CICU/PEDS CICU
• Monitor and manage ventilators and advanced life support equipment for critically ill children
• Care for central and arterial lines, manage chest tubes, and assist with emergent bedside surgical procedures
• Collaborate closely with congenital heart surgeons, cardiologists, intensivists, respiratory therapists and the multidisciplinary team
• Participate in ECMO and CRRT patient care coordination (unit runs ECMO with perfusionists/ECMO specialists; CRRT with PrisMax/Prismaflex)
• Document accurate, timely patient information in Meditech EMR and support continuity of care during handoffs
• Respond effectively to emergencies including chest closure at bedside, bronchoscopy support and other critical interventions
• Float to other pediatric areas as needed while maintaining a positive, team-oriented attitude

Qualifications

• Current RN license (eligible to work in Nevada or able to obtain state licensure)
• Required certifications: BLS, PALS, ACLS
• Minimum pediatric critical care experience required (posting specifies at least 1 year; posting header also notes experience: 2)
• Comfortable caring for complex pediatric cardiac patients and working with specialized equipment (ECMO, CRRT, ventilators)
• Experience with Meditech EMR is preferred
• Strong teamwork, communication skills, and a positive, energetic approach to patient care

Knowledge & Skills

• PICU and pediatric critical care principles
• Pediatric cardiac care and familiarity with congenital heart surgery post-op management
• Ventilator management and advanced respiratory support (Avea ventilators experience helpful)
• Central and arterial line care, chest tube management, and bedside surgical assistance
• Familiarity with ECMO and CRRT workflows and coordination
• Proficient documentation skills in Meditech EMR
• Ability to work effectively on a fast-paced, multidisciplinary critical care team
