Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide direct, compassionate nursing care to women in labor, through delivery, and during postpartum
• Perform thorough patient assessments and continuous fetal monitoring to support safe outcomes
• Prepare and assist for inductions and C-sections, ensuring the delivery room is ready at all times
• Administer IV medications safely and adhere to infection control and sterile technique standards
• Deliver newborn care and neonatal assessments, including participation in Neonatal Resuscitation when needed
• Document nursing care accurately and promptly to maintain continuity and quality of care
• Educate patients and families about labor, delivery, postpartum care, and newborn basics
• Provide emotional support and coordinate transfers when higher-level care is required

Qualifications

• Current Colorado Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• Current CPR certification required
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required
• ACLS certification required within one year of employment
• Preferably 4 years of experience in obstetrics or labor & delivery nursing
• Ability to perform under stressful situations and work long periods of standing and lifting
• Strong communication skills and the ability to provide compassionate patient education

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (RN) with current Colorado licensure

• Labor, delivery, postpartum and newborn care fundamentals
• Fetal monitoring and interpretation
• IV medication administration and safe medication practices
• Infection control and sterile technique
• Obstetric equipment familiarity
• Patient assessment and clinical decision-making
• Accurate documentation and charting
• Effective communication and emotional support for patients and families
• Coordination of transfers and interdisciplinary teamwork
