Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, helping with activities of daily living
• Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support with dignity and respect
• Monitor and record vital signs, reporting any changes to nursing staff promptly
• Support safe transfers and proper use of assistive devices to prevent falls and injuries
• Promote a positive environment by engaging residents in conversation and activities
• Maintain accurate documentation of care and observations in the resident record
• Follow infection control protocols and facility policies to ensure resident safety
• Collaborate with the care team to advocate for resident needs and preferences

Qualifications

• Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification required
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or required per facility guidelines
• Ability to pass background check, drug screening, and TB screening as required
• Comfortable working with older adults and tailoring care to individual needs
• Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Reliable, punctual, and able to perform physical tasks including lifting and transferring residents

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• GNA certification (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Proficiency taking and recording vital signs accurately
• Safe transfer and positioning techniques
• Basic charting and documentation skills
• Compassionate interpersonal skills and resident-centered care approach
• Infection control practices and ability to follow care plans
