Roles & Responsibilities

• Implement occupational therapy treatment plans under the direction of an OTR to help patients regain independence
• Deliver purposeful therapeutic activities and adaptive techniques to support ADLs
• Document patient progress accurately and timely in the medical record
• Educate patients and caregivers on strategies, adaptive equipment, and safe home routines
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, physicians, and the rehab team to coordinate care
• Maintain equipment, ensure safety of treatment spaces, and follow infection control practices
• Participate in team meetings and care planning to drive meaningful patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential required
• Current state licensure or eligibility to practice in California
• Comfort working in a fast-paced rehab/hospital environment and providing care across all days of the week
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage patients and families
• Up-to-date immunizations and willingness to complete facility onboarding requirements
• BLS/CPR certification preferred or willing to obtain if required by facility

Education

• Associate degree or diploma from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
• Completion of an accredited OTA clinical curriculum and certification as a COTA

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in implementing therapeutic activities for ADLs and functional mobility
• Proficient with documentation and clinical charting in an electronic medical record
• Knowledge of adaptive equipment, splinting basics, and assistive technologies
• Ability to assess patient needs and modify treatments safely
• Strong team collaboration, time management, and patient education skills
• Comfortable working with adult and geriatric populations in a rehab setting
