Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality adult respiratory care, including assessment and treatment of patients with respiratory compromise
• Manage ventilators and advanced airway devices safely and effectively
• Respond rapidly to emergency situations and assist in codes as needed
• Perform respiratory procedures and therapies such as nebulization, oxygen therapy, and airway suctioning
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses clearly and timely in the medical record
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and multidisciplinary teams to create and follow patient-centered care plans
• Maintain and perform basic troubleshooting on respiratory equipment and ensure infection control practices are followed
• Participate in required competency exams, fit testing, and checkerlists to maintain clinical readiness

Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license (state license verification required)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• DCI/BVP certification as listed (or equivalent basic ventilation proficiency)
• Successful completion of required pre-employment screenings: Prime Core Competencies Exam, Prime Skills Checklist, Prime Specialty Exam
• Completion of health requirements: COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, TB test, Hepatitis B, Influenza vaccine, Varicella, Tdap, and drug screening
• Fit test and color-blind test clearance as required by facility
• Comfortable working independently in adult acute care settings during night shifts

Knowledge & Skills

• Adult respiratory care best practices and ventilator management
• Airway management and oxygen therapy
• Patient assessment skills for respiratory status and clinical deterioration
• Emergency response and code assistance
• Familiarity with infection control procedures and PPE use
• Clear clinical documentation and communication with the care team
• Ability to complete competency-based exams and required facility checklists
