Roles & Responsibilities
- Conduct mental health assessments and develop individualized treatment plans
- Provide evidence-based individual and group therapy to patients in a correctional setting
- Collaborate with custody and medical staff to ensure safety and continuity of care
- Perform crisis intervention and safety planning when needed
- Maintain clear, timely clinical documentation and comply with regulatory standards
- Coordinate referrals and follow-up care with community resources
- Contribute to a respectful, trauma-informed environment that supports rehabilitation
Qualifications
- Active California LCSW, LMFT, LPCC license or Psychologist license (PSY) as appropriate
- Experience working with adults in behavioral health settings; correctional experience a strong plus
- Ability to pass background checks and meet facility security requirements
- Comfort working in a structured, secure correctional environment and collaborating with custody staff
- Strong clinical assessment, documentation and crisis management skills
- Commitment to cultural humility and trauma-informed care
Education
- Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or related field (required for LCSW/LMFT/LPCC)
- Doctoral degree in Psychology required for licensed psychologists (PSY)
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in mental health assessment, diagnosis and treatment planning
- Familiarity with evidence-based therapies such as CBT and trauma-informed approaches
- Strong risk assessment and crisis intervention abilities
- Excellent therapeutic rapport-building and group facilitation skills
- Clear, professional clinical documentation and electronic health record use
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
