Roles & Responsibilities

• Conduct mental health assessments and develop individualized treatment plans
• Provide evidence-based individual and group therapy to patients in a correctional setting
• Collaborate with custody and medical staff to ensure safety and continuity of care
• Perform crisis intervention and safety planning when needed
• Maintain clear, timely clinical documentation and comply with regulatory standards
• Coordinate referrals and follow-up care with community resources
• Contribute to a respectful, trauma-informed environment that supports rehabilitation

Qualifications

• Active California LCSW, LMFT, LPCC license or Psychologist license (PSY) as appropriate
• Experience working with adults in behavioral health settings; correctional experience a strong plus
• Ability to pass background checks and meet facility security requirements
• Comfort working in a structured, secure correctional environment and collaborating with custody staff
• Strong clinical assessment, documentation and crisis management skills
• Commitment to cultural humility and trauma-informed care

Education

• Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or related field (required for LCSW/LMFT/LPCC)
• Doctoral degree in Psychology required for licensed psychologists (PSY)

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in mental health assessment, diagnosis and treatment planning
• Familiarity with evidence-based therapies such as CBT and trauma-informed approaches
• Strong risk assessment and crisis intervention abilities
• Excellent therapeutic rapport-building and group facilitation skills
• Clear, professional clinical documentation and electronic health record use
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
