Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patient condition and develop individualized care plans using the nursing process
• Implement evidence-based interventions and evaluate patient responses
• Provide direct, compassionate patient care within scope of practice in the ED and telemetry areas
• Communicate clearly and promptly with physicians about changes in patient status and diagnostic results
• Respond quickly and accurately to clinical changes and emergent situations
• Lead and guide patient and family teaching to promote recovery and understanding
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality at all times
• Comply with EMTALA regulations and report suspected child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies
• Perform telemetry monitoring and ensure accurate documentation of rhythms and patient status
• Collaborate with nursing personnel and the multidisciplinary team to maintain professional standards of care

Qualifications

• Current and valid state Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• BLS required
• ACLS required
• PALS required
• NRP required (SDCH-specific requirement)
• EDAP 1 and EDAP 2 required
• BVP (MAB) training required
• NIHSS or Stroke Certification preferred
• COVID vaccination/boosters preferred
• Demonstrated ED experience and telemetry competence preferred
• Ability to pass required health screening, drug test, and workplace credentialing checks

Education

• Current and valid state Registered Nurse (RN) license (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient assessment and clinical judgment skills
• Care planning, implementation, and evaluation using the nursing process
• Direct patient care in emergency and telemetry settings
• Clear communication with physicians and multidisciplinary team members
• Knowledge of EMTALA regulations and appropriate reporting procedures
• Skill in patient and family education and documentation
• Ability to respond rapidly to changes in clinical condition
• Familiarity with telemetry monitoring and rhythm interpretation
