Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, direct patient care in the ICU using the full nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation
• Monitor and respond quickly to changes in patient condition, communicating critical findings to physicians and the care team
• Provide patient and family education and guidance during high-stress situations
• Maintain patient privacy, confidentiality, and compliance with EMTALA and hospital reporting requirements
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and guide other nursing personnel to maintain professional standards of care in telemetry and ICU settings
• Document care accurately in Meditech EMR and complete required competency and specialty exams

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN license
• Minimum 1 year experience as a staff RN in an acute care hospital setting, ICU experience required
• Current BLS (AHA or Red Cross)
• Current ACLS (AHA or Red Cross)
• Current PALS (AHA or Red Cross)
• Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) certificate / DCI
• NIHSS certification
• Meditech EMR experience
• Ability to float to units of competency
• Completion of required onboarding screenings and immunizations (drug screen, TB, MMR, Hep B, COVID-19 vaccine preferred, etc.)

Education

• Current and valid state RN license (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing and ICU/telemetry practices
• Nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation
• Direct patient care and monitoring of critically ill patients
• Emergency and acute care protocols including EMTALA knowledge
• Experience with Meditech electronic medical record
• Strong communication with physicians, families, and care teams
• Ability to perform under pressure and respond to changing clinical situations
• Patient and family education skills
