Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, patient-centered nursing care using the nursing process: assess, plan, implement and evaluate
• Perform and interpret fetal heart monitoring to ensure maternal and fetal well-being
• Provide antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum care for mothers and newborns with confidence
• Teach and support patients and families—explain procedures, discharge plans and newborn care
• Respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition and escalate via chain of command when needed
• Maintain a safe environment for patients and visitors while upholding Birthplace standards of care
• Direct and collaborate with nursing personnel to coordinate effective, compassionate care
• Complete required skills checklists, specialty exams and competency assessments to stay sharp

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license (ability to verify licensure through Nursys)
• AWHONN/Fetal Heart Monitoring certification (required)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required)
• DCI/BVP certification as listed
• Completion of Prime Basic Pharmacology, Prime Core Competencies, Prime Skills Checklist and Prime Specialty Exam
• Successful completion of required health screening: COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza, Varicella, Tdap, TB test or appropriate records
• Clear 10-panel drug screen and fit test, plus any facility-specific health/physical documentation

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment, care planning, implementation and evaluation
• AWHONN fetal heart monitoring and intrapartum surveillance
• Antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum and newborn care
• Patient and family education with clear, compassionate communication
• Ability to respond to changes in condition and coordinate timely interventions
• Safe patient care practices and adherence to facility policies
• Comfort directing and mentoring other nursing personnel
• Familiarity with licensure verification processes (Nursys) and competency testing
