Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered care on a medical-surgical unit during night shifts
• Perform thorough nursing assessments and develop individualized care plans
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately, following hospital protocols
• Monitor patient status, recognize changes, and escalate concerns to the care team
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and support staff to coordinate seamless care
• Complete accurate documentation and participate in competency testing to maintain excellence
• Support patient and family education, ensuring clear communication and compassionate care

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license, verified via Nursys
• Current BLS required
• ACLS required
• DCI/BVP certification required
• Per diem availability and prior med-surgical or night shift nursing experience preferred
• Ability to pass Fit Test and 10-panel drug screen
• Up-to-date immunizations and required health screenings (COVID-19, MMR, Hep B, TB test, Varicella, Tdap, Influenza)
• Successful completion of facility onboarding checks including license/certificate verification

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong med-surgical clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Comfort with night shift workflow and dead-of-night priorities
• Familiarity with medication administration and IV management
• Competence with documentation and electronic health record systems
• Infection control practices, including PPE and fit-tested respirator use
• Ability to perform under pressure and coordinate care during admissions, discharges, and transfers
• Effective communication with interdisciplinary teams and patients' families
