Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patients using the nursing process and develop individualized care plans
- Provide direct patient care on the Med/Surg/Telemetry unit within your scope of practice
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition
- Communicate clinical changes, diagnostic results, and concerns clearly to physicians
- Deliver patient and family education to support recovery and discharge readiness
- Document care, assessments, and interventions accurately in the medical record
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to maintain standards of care
- Participate in core competency testing and specialty skill validation as required
Qualifications
- Current and valid state Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum 1 year of previous acute care hospital experience (telemetry or Med/Surg experience preferred)
- Current BLS (AHA or Red Cross)
- Current ACLS (AHA or Red Cross)
- NIHSS certification
- DCI/BVP certification
- Nursys registration for license verification
- Meditech EMR experience preferred
- Ability and willingness to float to units of competency
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry and cardiac monitoring skills and interpretation
- Med/Surg nursing practices and acute care assessment
- Strong patient/family teaching and communication skills
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (Meditech preferred)
- Medication administration and basic pharmacology knowledge
- Infection control and safety practices
- Ability to respond to rapid clinical changes and emergencies
- Teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration
