Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients using the nursing process and develop individualized care plans
• Provide direct patient care on the Med/Surg/Telemetry unit within your scope of practice
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition
• Communicate clinical changes, diagnostic results, and concerns clearly to physicians
• Deliver patient and family education to support recovery and discharge readiness
• Document care, assessments, and interventions accurately in the medical record
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to maintain standards of care
• Participate in core competency testing and specialty skill validation as required

Qualifications

• Current and valid state Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Minimum 1 year of previous acute care hospital experience (telemetry or Med/Surg experience preferred)
• Current BLS (AHA or Red Cross)
• Current ACLS (AHA or Red Cross)
• NIHSS certification
• DCI/BVP certification
• Nursys registration for license verification
• Meditech EMR experience preferred
• Ability and willingness to float to units of competency

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry and cardiac monitoring skills and interpretation
• Med/Surg nursing practices and acute care assessment
• Strong patient/family teaching and communication skills
• Proficiency with electronic medical records (Meditech preferred)
• Medication administration and basic pharmacology knowledge
• Infection control and safety practices
• Ability to respond to rapid clinical changes and emergencies
• Teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration
