Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients quickly and accurately using sound clinical judgment in a fast-paced ED
• Provide direct, compassionate patient care across the emergency and telemetry spectrum
• Monitor telemetry and interpret rhythm changes to keep patients safe
• Administer medications safely and document care in the Meditech EMR
• Communicate care plans and changes clearly with physicians and the multidisciplinary team
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans
• Respond rapidly to changes in patient condition and escalate concerns appropriately
• Maintain patient privacy, follow EMTALA and mandatory reporting guidelines, and model professional nursing standards

Qualifications

• Current, valid state Registered Nurse (RN) license (required)
• Minimum 1 year of experience as a staff RN in an acute care hospital, ED experience required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (AHA or Red Cross accepted)
• Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) / DCI certification required
• NIHSS, EDAP and EDAP II certifications preferred/required as listed
• Comfortable with telemetry monitoring and emergency department workflows
• Meditech EMR experience preferred
• Ability to float to units within competency
• Ability to pass required pre-employment health screenings, drug screen, and immunizations

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient assessment and triage skills in emergency settings
• Proficiency in telemetry monitoring and basic rhythm interpretation
• Accurate medication administration and documentation practices
• Solid EMR documentation skills (Meditech experience a plus)
• Knowledge of EMTALA regulations and mandatory reporting procedures
• Effective patient/family education and communication skills
• Calm, decisive response to acute changes in patient condition
