Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide direct, patient-centered nursing care in the cardiac catheterization lab following established policies and protocols
• Assess patients and implement individualized care plans before, during, and after procedures
• Monitor, record, and clearly communicate patient condition and changes to the care team
• Execute physician and nursing orders accurately and in a timely manner
• Coordinate interdisciplinary care and act as a central point for discharge planning
• Support procedural flow and patient safety during cath lab cases and assist with post-procedure recovery
• Participate in on-call rotation to support urgent cases and maintain continuity of care

Qualifications

• Current Illinois Registered Nurse license (Nursys) required
• BLS Provider required (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted)
• ACLS certification required
• DCI/BVP certification required
• 1–2 years of cumulative, job-specific Cath Lab nursing experience required
• Interventional Radiology (IR) experience strongly preferred
• Willingness to participate in on-call schedule (every 3rd weekend; ~16 on-calls per 6-week period)

Education

• Professional RN licensure from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (Nursys)
• 1-2 years of cath lab or related interventional experience (as listed in requirements)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical assessment and direct patient care skills in invasive cardiology settings
• Proficiency with monitoring and documenting patient condition and procedural data
• Familiarity with cath lab equipment, sterile technique, and procedural flow
• Excellent communication and interdisciplinary coordination skills
• Ability to follow complex physician orders and adapt in high-acuity situations
• Comfort working in a fast-paced procedural environment and providing on-call coverage
