Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor maternal and postpartum patients, providing compassionate, evidence-based care
• Perform fetal heart monitoring and interpret results to guide timely clinical decisions
• Provide skilled postpartum and intrapartum support, including vaginal examination assistance
• Respond to neonatal emergencies using NRP protocols when needed
• Document thoroughly and accurately in EPIC to ensure continuity of care
• Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and the interdisciplinary team to create patient-centered plans
• Educate patients and families about postpartum recovery, newborn care, and discharge plans
• Maintain compliance with required screenings, vaccinations, and competency testing

Qualifications

• Current, valid RN license (required)
• BLS, NRP, and ACLS certifications (required)
• Nursys registration active
• EPIC charting experience (required)
• AWHONN or Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification (preferred)
• Postpartum care and vaginal examination experience (preferred)
• BSN preferred
• Ability to pass Prime competency exams, drug screen, fit test, and required immunizations/vaccines

Education

• Current RN license
• BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong fetal heart monitoring skills and interpretation
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic charting
• Neonatal resuscitation (NRP) and maternal/newborn emergency response
• Excellent communication and patient education skills
• Critical thinking and rapid decision-making in a busy OB/postpartum setting
• Infection control practices and adherence to vaccination/testing protocols
• Teamwork and ability to collaborate across disciplines
