Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform timely and accurate patient assessments using NIHSS for stroke evaluation
• Administer medications, treatments and IV therapies safely and in accordance with policy
• Monitor patient status, interpret data and escalate concerns to the interdisciplinary team
• Provide compassionate patient and family education to support recovery and discharge planning
• Document care thoroughly and maintain accurate medical records in the electronic chart
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists and colleagues to deliver coordinated, evidence-based care
• Participate in Trinity specialty competency testing and unit-specific training to maintain excellence

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing (state license verification required)
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required (demonstrated competence in stroke scale is essential)
• Experience in Medical-Surgical nursing (float experience a plus)
• Availability for night shifts and every other weekend coverage
• Completion of Trinity specialty-specific competency testing and required health screenings

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency with NIH Stroke Scale assessments and acute stroke recognition
• Strong medical-surgical clinical skills including patient assessment, IV management and medication administration
• Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, multidisciplinary teams
• Solid documentation skills and comfort with electronic health records
• Infection control practices, respirator/PPE familiarity and safety protocols
• Excellent communication, critical thinking and prioritization abilities
