Roles & Responsibilities

• Oversee delivery of patient care using the full nursing process — assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation
• Direct and coordinate nursing care in the Family Medicine Clinic to ensure safe, efficient care across lifespan (pediatrics to geriatrics)
• Act as Charge Nurse to lead clinic flow, prioritize patient needs, and support staff in day-to-day operations
• Collaborate with other RN Charges and interdisciplinary teams to drive clinic best practices and improve outcomes
• Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for unit staff, providing guidance and supervision to PCTs, CMAs, LPNs and RNs
• Manage medications and treatments, interpret diagnostic tests, and ensure accurate documentation in the electronic health record
• Provide patient, family and caregiver education with cultural sensitivity and age-appropriate communication
• Participate in staffing activities such as reviewing resumes and assisting with onboarding agency or traveling nursing staff

Qualifications

• Current, active Alaska Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
• Current BLS certification required
• Graduate of an NLN-approved nursing program; BSN preferred
• Minimum 4 years charge nurse experience in a clinic or urgent care setting
• Demonstrated ability to pass and maintain clinical competencies for this role
• Strong oral and written communication skills and comfort with documentation and regulations
• Flexible with scheduling and able to work independently within established scope

Education

• Completion of a nursing program from an NLN-approved institution (Associate degree or diploma acceptable)
• BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in the nursing process and nursing diagnosis
• Skilled in patient assessment, care planning and medication administration
• Experience with electronic health record systems and clinical documentation
• Knowledge of medical terminology and ability to interpret diagnostic tests
• Clinical supervision and team leadership skills
• Cultural competency — experience working with diverse populations and applying age-specific care
• Problem-solving, critical thinking, and basic mathematical skills for medication dosing and calculations
