Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide full-scope cardiopulmonary services across all ages, delivering compassionate, patient-centered care
• Manage and operate ventilators for adult, pediatric and infant patients, adjusting settings per physician orders
• Perform airway management including intubation assist, suctioning, and emergency respiratory interventions such as CPR
• Obtain and analyze arterial blood gases (ABGs) and use results to guide respiratory care plans
• Conduct pulmonary function testing (PFTs) and document results accurately for the care team
• Administer and monitor respiratory therapy medications and nebulized treatments safely and effectively
• Perform chest physiotherapy and other therapeutic modalities to improve patient outcomes
• Maintain meticulous documentation, interpret physician orders, and communicate care plans clearly with colleagues
• Assist in problem solving and quality improvement efforts within the respiratory therapy department
• Operate and maintain respiratory equipment—pulse oximeters, ventilators, ISAT ABG analyzers, nebulizers, and more

Qualifications

• Graduate of an AMA-accredited Respiratory Therapy program with an Associate of Science (AS) degree or equivalent
• Minimum 1 year clinical experience providing respiratory care to hospital patients
• NBRC credentials (CRTT, CRT, RT, or RRT) required
• BLS certification required; ACLS and PALS certification encouraged
• Comfortable reading and interpreting physician orders, technical manuals, and hospital policies
• Strong documentation skills and the ability to communicate effectively with patients and multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to work with patients of all ages including infants, pediatrics and adults

Education

• Graduate of an AMA-accredited Respiratory Therapy program
• Associate of Science (AS) Degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

• Airway management and intubation assist
• Ventilator operation and management for adult, pediatric and infant patients
• ABG procurement and interpretation
• Pulmonary function testing (PFT) and spirometry
• Chest physiotherapy and patient suctioning techniques
• Respiratory medication delivery, indications and contraindications
• Experience with oxygen delivery devices, nebulizers, bag-valve-mask, and suction equipment
• Familiarity with EKG machines, Holter/event monitors and treadmill/stress testing equipment
• Comfort using point-of-care ISTAT ABG analyzers and accurate clinical documentation
