Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered care in the PCU/stepdown setting during night shifts
• Monitor and titrate vasoactive drips safely and according to protocol
• Perform advanced line and vascular access care including IV insertion, PICC and central line management, and A-line care
• Manage airway support including CPAP/BiPAP and tracheostomy care
• Assess and monitor cardiac rhythms and obtain 12-lead EKGs as needed
• Support post-procedure and surgical patients with focused, timely interventions
• Administer and monitor PCA pumps, feeding tubes and wound vac therapy
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and execute individualized care plans

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the state of practice (or eligibility to obtain prior to start)
• Minimum of 2 years of critical care or stepdown experience (required)
• Demonstrated experience with vasoactive drip titration and advanced monitoring
• Proven IV insertion skills and experience with PICC/central line and dialysis fistula care
• Comfortable with airway management (CPAP/BiPAP, trach care) and cardiac interventions
• Current BLS certification; ACLS preferred or willing to obtain
• Ability to float between Stepdown and PCU units as needed

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care and stepdown patient assessment and management
• Vasoactive medications and titration protocols
• IV therapy, PICC/central line and A-line management
• Cardiac monitoring, 12-lead EKG acquisition and interpretation basics
• Airway support: CPAP, BiPAP and tracheostomy care
• Use of common unit equipment: IV pumps, PCA pumps, bladder scanners, SCDs, Optiflow and Vapotherm
• Wound vac, feeding tube management and post-operative care
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple acute patients during night shift
