Roles & Responsibilities

• Navigate surgery patients through the perioperative diagnostic and treatment process with compassion and clear communication
• Perform pre-anesthesia testing (PAT) and complete thorough assessments for surgical candidates
• Educate patients and families about pre-op instructions, expectations, and follow-up care
• Coordinate with surgeons, anesthesia, and clinic staff to facilitate smooth patient flow and optimal outcomes
• Document clinical findings, plans, and patient communications accurately in the electronic medical record
• Identify barriers to care and connect patients with appropriate resources to support timely surgery
• Promote a positive patient and family experience by establishing respectful and supportive relationships

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required
• Unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Colorado, or ability to obtain prior to start date
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required (may be obtained upon hire)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required
• Minimum 3 years of inpatient or outpatient orthopedic nursing and/or medical-surgical nursing experience
• Experience with Epic preferred
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred
• Able to safely function in a high-elevation environment (around 8,000 ft)
• Must be able to secure own housing for the assignment

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

• Perioperative nursing and patient navigation best practices
• Pre-Anesthesia Testing (PAT) procedures and assessments
• Strong patient and family communication and education skills
• Outpatient/clinic workflow and office-based care coordination
• Orthopedic and medical-surgical nursing knowledge
• Proficiency with Epic electronic health records (preferred)
• BLS and ACLS clinical skills and readiness
