Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, helping maintain dignity and comfort
• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting
• Monitor and record vital signs and behavioral changes accurately and promptly
• Support safe mobility and fall-prevention strategies, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Document resident care and communicate changes to nurses and the care team to ensure continuity
• Build trusting relationships with residents and families through respectful, clear communication
• Maintain a clean, safe and comfortable environment for residents, following infection control practices

Qualifications

• Valid GNA or equivalent geriatric nursing assistant certification
• Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
• State registration or ability to obtain required Maryland credentials for GNA work
• Recent experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or geriatric settings is preferred
• Ability to pass background checks, drug screening and required pre-employment health checks
• Strong interpersonal skills and a patient-centered approach to care

Education

• High school diploma or GED required
• Completion of a state-approved GNA/Geriatric Nursing Assistant program

Knowledge & Skills

• Comfortable assisting with ADLs and basic resident care
• Knowledge of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Ability to take and document vital signs, intake/output and simple assessments
• Good communication skills with residents, families and multidisciplinary teams
• Basic charting and documentation skills; familiarity with electronic health records is a plus
• Teamwork, time management and a proactive approach to resident safety
